Imphal, August 29 2021:
Communist Party of India-Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) has cautioned of launching intense agitations with the people if the state government is found attempting to disintegrate the territorial integrity of Manipur which has remain undisturbed for over 2000 years.
In a statement, CPI-MSC recounted that Hijam Irabot fought to safeguard the territory of the state with his life.
However, the border fencing work being undertaken recently along the Indo-Myanmar border is unacceptable, as the demarcation for the fencing is deep inside the state's territory.
"CPI had raised objection against the fencing in the past due to this matter, in addition to raising the matter in the Parliament.
Although the Union Home Department and the state government have assured that the state's territory would not be affected, the ongoing fencing works say otherwise", it remarked.
Urging the Chief Ministers to prevent the "faulty" fencing works being carried out in a secretive manner amidst the pandemic, the party further urged for formulation of a plan to finalise the border issue.
