Can beat pandemic with public support: BJP

Asserting that the party has been rendering help to people in distress during the pandemic and related restrictions imposed by the government, BJP Manipur Pradesh expressed hope that the state can overcome the pandemic and its impact with active public participation in the fight against the pandemic.
Addressing a press meet at party's Nityaipat Chuthek office here on Friday, BJP state vice president Nimbus said that the state can defeat the pandemic with active support from the public.
The public must strictly follow the SOP laid down by the government and play their part in breaking the chain of transmission.
Maintaining that the country is fighting the pandemic under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he asked other political parties to refrain from bringing in politics in the fight.
Joining the media briefing, BJP state general secretary Premananda Meitei said that the party distributed food packages, face masks and hand sanitisers as well as other commodities to nearly three lakh families in the first wave last year.
This year, the party is also carrying out similar activities during the second wave under the aegis of vice-president Dr U Deben by forming district committees and opening helpline numbers.
The committees are also getting big support from the government and the party also support the state government's efforts to fight the pandemic, he added.
Vice president U Deben said that the party organised condolence meets in honour of its departed state president S Tikendra in all units including mandals.
The Shradha day will also be observed in all these units on May 27 while maintaining SOPs, he said and added that the party will put its best efforts to fulfil the dreams of the late leader.
