MUC, Japan varsity students exchange views

A 5-day student exchange programme between Manipur University of Culture and Institute of International Relations, Keio University, Tokyo, Japan concluded on Sunday.
The exchange programme focused on various aspects of the rich Manipuri culture and tradition and explored numerous possible areas of interaction as many significant observations had been made durihg the 5-day programme.
This is going to be an emerging enterprise of friendship and future collaboration between Manipur University of Culture and Keio University, said a press release from Manipur University of Culture.
"This will foster new ties and construct new ways of surging a need for knowing and acknowledging our 'cultural relativism' with Japanese culture," it said.
The release further said that the Japanese students highly appreciated the 30-minute documentary, 'The Battle of Imphal-1944', while their Indian counterparts were really impressed by various lively presentations, including culinary delights, oriental musical instruments and attires, from the visiting students.
"We, at Manipur University of Culture, Manipur, India, are now foraging a new geography of affinity with Keio University at the micro-level and Japan at the macro-level," it continued.
The 5-day student exchange programme was attended by Manipur University of Culture's vice-chancellor Prof Paonam Gunindro Singh, project co-ordinator Aribam Shivadas Sharma, project convener Laishram Rad-hakanta (registrar), university co-ordinator Dr Lourembam Surjit Singh (deputy registrar) along with five assistant professors, namely Dr Ruth Lalsiemsang Buongpui (Department of Tribal Studies), Dr Thounaojam Bimola Devi (Department of Culture Studies), Lourembam Dhaneshwor Singh (Department of Sankirtana), Dr Binata Nongmaithem (Department of English), and Dr Longjam Meena Devi (Department of Culture Studies), Manipur University of Culture, the release added.
