Imphal, October 03 2021:
A sit-in-protest was staged today by the Left Coordination Committee at Irawat Bhawan against the brutal, cold-blooded killing of social activist Athuan Abonmai.
Spokesperson of CPI, Manipur State Council, RK Amusana questioned the purpose of having a Government if somebody like Athuan Abonmai who stood for unity of all communities can be easily kidnapped from right under the nose of security personnel in broad daylight and be subsequently murdered.
He also condemned the inaction of the security personnel and prominent leaders of the land and stated that their attitude displays a lack of consideration for human life.
He continued his speech saying that the Left Coordination Committee and Communist Party strongly condemn the killing and called the act something akin to what people from the stone age might resort to.
He further asserted that the Chief Minister ought to resign on moral grounds, if the criminals responsible for Athaun Abonmai's killing cannot be brought to justice, RK Amusana added that the Government ought to remove all traces of NSCN (IM) from Manipur, stating that the outfit is responsible for many illegal and detrimental activities.
He further urged the CSOs in the valley to lend their support in this demand for justice for Athuan Abonmai's killing, explaining that the pitiful state of law and order in the hills might prevent hill-based CSOs from raising their voices.
