'No contractors turned up for tender organised by NHIDCL'

No contractor allegedly came to bid for tender conducted by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in connection with the maintenance of the stretch of road from Makru Bridge till Jiribam.
On the other hand, to construct a 25 kilometre long elevated highway, survey is being carried out and geotechnical investigations and soil testing works have been started.
As per the official sources, to start the maintenance and repairing work of the deplorable condition of National Highway-37 (Imphal Jiribam road) especially for the stretch of road from Makru Bridge till Jiribam, no bidders allegedly came for the tender organised by NHIDCL due to minimal tender amount and monetary demands made by many unlawful outfits.
On the other hand, the work to construct elevated highways from Koirengei passing through the road in front of Raj Bhawan till Malom and from Lilong Bridge till the road in front of Raj Bhawan is being ramped up.
Geotechnical investigations and soil testing works are being carried out.
The official source maintained that the elevated higway is to be constructed by the engineers of National Highway Division and Public Works Department of State Government and it is estimated that the construction of the said elevated higway will cost around Rs 5,000 (Rupees five thousand) crores.
