Imphal, February 09 2022:
The president of Manipur Students' Federation (MSF), Khangembam Bidyasagar has categorically stated that the "School Fagathansi Mission" launched by the State Government to uplift the status of Government schools has not been implemented effectively when inspected at schools.
He made the above statement on the 16th anniversary of the launching of MSF's academic campaign "Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi" held at the Royal Academy of Science, Kongba Kshetri Leikai today.
Speaking to media persons in connection with the event, he said that with an aim to provide proper education to the students in the State to bring in a developed society, the campaign "Eikhoi Lairik Ningthijana Tamsi" was launched in 2006 .
Under this campaign, the members of MSF have been inspecting the schools across the State to check their status.

Speaking about the status of education sector in the State with regards to COVID-19 pandemic, he said that the students of Class 9 and above are not facing much problems now since the Government has allowed the conduct of physical classes from the late part of last year.
However the situation of students below Class 9 is concerning since the impact of Covid is still felt by the students considerably as the students of Government schools are deprived of education and are in a vulnerable state, he added.
He went on to state that impact is less severe for private school students as online classes are conducted on a regular basis but the Government school students are left in a deplorable state since no proper measures have been taken up for their education.
Expressing concern on the matter, he urged the authorities concerned to take up immediate measures to save the career of the Government school students especially who are below Class 9 and to plan proper mechanisms to promote them.
In regards to the ignorant attitude of the Government towards the education sector, he alleged that the "School Fagathansi Mission" is not being implemented properly though the leaders have made false claims.
It has been found that there are many loopholes like no proper infrastructure has been provided at the schools, shortage of teachers when MSF had inspected the Government schools, he stated.
He also stated that MSF had written to the Education Department to look into the above matter.
Today's programme was also attended by the Chairman of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM), Akham Joykumar, Mutum Prabikumar of Royal Academy of Science and the Director of Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Manipur University, Professor Ch Ibohal as the presidium members.
