Projects to be completed with loan from HUDCO

In order to complete incomplete projects and take up new ones, the State Government has initiated due process to take a loan of around Rs 840 crore from Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO).
Incomplete projects/works implemented by PWD (Building Division) would be completed with the loan in addition to constructing new buildings, sources informed adding that despite the difficulties faced everywhere due to the global pandemic, the State Government is committed to development.
Out of the loan amount of Rs 840 crore, Rs 350 crore would be utilised in constructing a multi-storeyed building (G+6) at New Checkon which would be used as Government quarters.
A VVIP guest house would be constructed at the erstwhile High Court complex at the cost of Rs 230 crore to accommodate VVIPs like the President, the Prime Minister, Union Ministers etc as and when they visit Manipur.
One Manipur arts centre would be developed at Gurgaon, Delhi at the cost of Rs 220 crore while Rs 70 crore would be invested to complete the incomplete Civil Secretariat, said the sources.
Informing that the process of obtaining Rs 840 crore as loan from HUDCO is almost complete, the sources said that fresh work order has been issued to a new contractor for completion of the Ima Market complex built and abandoned by the Simplex Project at the erstwhile Tombisana High School compound.
It is estimated that completion of the Ima Market complex would need around Rs 38 crore.
Meanwhile, a tender committee has started due process of issuing fresh work order to a new contractor for completion of the development of IT-SEZ Mantripukhri.
Notably, this project was also executed by Simplex Project but the firm left it incomplete.
On the other hand, in accordance with an order of the High Court of Manipur, a joint team of Simplex Project and PWD (Building Division) made a joint measurement of the completed portions of the Civil Secretariat yesterday.
It is said that a report on the joint measurement would be submitted to the High Court shortly.
A fresh work order has been issued for construction of a foot bridge on the northern side of TG Higher Secondary School.
As such the construction work would begin soon.
Another foot bridge would be constructed as soon as its exact location is finalised.
The latest foot bridge is most likely to be constructed near the police headquarters, the sources added.
