Rape slur casts on NSCN (IM) cadre

A young woman was alleedly raped by an NSCN-IM cadre in Dimapur a week ago.
According to the Naga Women Union (NWU), one Adani Chitthuiyio, a cadre of NSCN-IM raped the woman at Viola Colony, Dimapur at around 8.30 pm on October 14 .
NWU said it vehemently condemns the beastly act of rape and murder attempt of an innocent young woman of 26 years old at Viola Colony, Dimapur at around 8.30 pm on October 14 by one Adani Chithuiyio, a cadre of the NSCN (IM) who is connected to high profile people and is supposed to be the protector.
"Such acts should be condemned in one voice irrespective of people, communities or groups we belong to," it urged.
NWU expressed deep shock, strong resentment and anguish over the brutal rape incident and stand in support of the victim.
It urged the authorities concerned to bring justice to the victim.
The culprit deserves the severest punishment under the law to act as strong deterrent against committing such heinous crime in future.
"Rape case among the Naga society in olden days was rare, love for fellow beings which was valued most has lost in its totality in the society today," the NWU stated, adding, "Rape is a savage act and is a crime committed against the whole humanity.
It is a savage attack on the dignity of an individual that results in irreparable mental, social and psychological damage apart from physical injury.
It is a grievous assault on the moral fabric of the society" .
