Imphal, May 18 2011:
A joint meeting of the representatives of student bodies like AMSU, DESAM, KSA, students' union of ITI Takyelpat, teachers, staff and trainees of the institute held today has decided that the institute would resume normal classes from tomorrow.
Normal conduct of classes in the Institute has remained suspended since May 4 following restriction from one KCP faction.
Announcing resumption of classes from tomorrow on behalf of all other student bodies during a press conference after the meeting, secretary in-charge of education and academic affairs of DESAM Pukhrambam Premchandra said that there is some personal problem between the KCP faction and Joint Director of Craftsman Training Thokchom Manibabu.
However, out of thee 11 ITIs in Manipur, the restriction has been imposed only on the one at Takyelpat and Joint Director Manibabu has not said anything in this regard.
This is unfortunate.
Stating that resumption of normal classes is in the interest the students whose final examination is due to begin from July in all the ITIs located across the country, Premchandra appealed to all concerned to ensure conduct of normal classes peacefully.
