Imphal, May 18 2011:
A non local man has apologized Wednesday to the people of Manipur for filing his nomination for the forthcoming municipal elections in the State following a warning by the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party Maoist (KCP-M).
"This will be my first and the last mistake," said Rajesh Kapoor to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, as he apologized for filing a nomination as candidate for Ward No.25 for the IMC elections.
KCP Moist banned his candidature on May 13 warning him of grave consequences if he refused to withdraw.
The underground outfit has also banned his dry cleaning shop permanently.
On May 12, a local evening vernacular carried a news report of FREINDS banning him from contesting the election.
Kapoor said, the threat from KCP Maoist on May 13 resulted in his business forum, Star Dry Cleaner, being closed.
He asked voters from Ward No.25 not to vote for him although his name would appear on the ballot papers.
"The shop is the only means of livelihood for the family and several others who work there," Kapoor said appealling to those concerned to lift the ban on his dry cleaners shop.
