Four-year old boy hanged after being murdered

Imphal, May 18 2011:
A hunt for a missing four-year-old boy ended in a tragedy when the boy's lifeless body was found hanged inside a structure behind a temple within an hour of his missing.
The boy was found hanged with a rope inside the structure at around 2 pm by his parents and family who conducted a search for his whereabouts when he could not be traced after he went out around 1 pm today.
They found the lifeless body of Thiyam Tomba alias Roberoy son of Th Rocky Singh of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou, hanged in a bamboo walled structure behind the Iputhou Thongarel temple.
The structure is used by maibis and maibas during laiharaoba.
Police suspect the boy was strangulated before being hanged.
However, confirmation to the cause of death is awaited, they said.
Police suspect drug addicts to be behind the murder but the gold ear-rings and gold necklace of the boy were still found on his dead body.
After registering a case, police has transferred the dead body to the RIMS morgue for postmortem.
Bishnupur police commandos conducted a mass search operation in and around Ningthoukhong area till late this evening to find out the culprit(s) behind the murder.
But there were no reports of arrest or rounding up any suspects.
