Condolences pour in as Prof S Tiken cremated

As condolences pour in from many sections, the body of BJP Manipur Pradesh president Saikhom Tikendra Singh was cremated at his native place at Nambol Sabal Leikai today morning.
S Tikendra, the veteran leader of the BJP died of COVID-19 at Shija Hospital, Imphal yesterday.
He was 69.As his lifeless body was brought to Nambol Sabal Leikai Community Hall, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, BJP State unit president in-charge Usham Deben and party members paid their last respect to the departed leader.
It may be noted that S Tikendra had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 27 and later, he was admitted at JNIMS Hospital.
He was referred to Shija Hospital from JNIMS yesterday afternoon and succumbed to Covid in the evening.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh and BJP National president JP Nadda among others had condoled his demise yesterday.

Meanwhile, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand Singh, elected members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, many political parties and organisations have condoled the demise the BJP leader.
"I was shocked to hear that Prof S Tikendra Singh, president of BJP Manipur unit who was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at a hospital in Imphal passed away on Thursday evening.
His demise has left a vacuum in the BJP Manipur.
I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
May his soul rest in peace," said a condolence message of Speaker Y Khemchand Singh.
BJP Ministers, Th Biswajit Singh and Th Satyabrata Singh also sent their condolences and shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members.
"He [S Tikendra] was a rare leader who earned the love and admiration of the people for his straight-forwardness, sense of dedication in the service of the party and public, distinctive simplicity and honesty.
In his departure for heavenly abode, the State and our party have lost an eminent leader, an intellectual as well as an excellent human being," said Th Biswajit.
Naga People's Front (NPF) president, Awangbow Newmai said, "Our late professor was not only a devoted party [BJP] leader but understood the dynamics of the social fabrics in the State and therefore respected by all among coalition partners.
His sudden demise is an irreparable loss to the people of the State.
Late Prof Saikhom Tikendra Singh shall be remembered as a good leader.
May his soul rest in peace" .
Communist Party of India (CPI) also condoled the demise of S Tikendra.
Veteran CPI leader Dr M Nara and party secretary L Sotinkumar also remembered the contributions of S Tikendra towards his party and development of the State.
The CPI leaders shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members.
National People's Party president, N Kayisii too condoled the demise of S Tikendra.
"Prof S Tikendra Singh had a significant record of serving people of the State.
He was a stalwart who earned much love and admiration from people for his kindness, dedication and honesty," N Kayisii said.
BJP Khangabok Mandal members in presence of party leader Thokchom Jadumani condoled the demise S Tikendra and observed a 2-minute silence as a mark of respect for the departed leader.
Members of BJP Heirok Mandal led by MLA Radheshyam paid floral tributes to the departed leader and observed a 2-minute silence.
BJP Tengnoupal Mandal in presence of State spokesperson, H Shokhopao Benjamin Mate paid last respect to S Tikendra at the Mandal office.
The party flag was flown at half mast.
Ch Ajang Khongsai, spokesperson BJP Manipur Pradesh said S Tikendra was an academician and a leader who was hardworking and soft spoken.
He extended condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
United Front Manipur; Manipur State Committee, Democratic Bharatiya Samaj Party; Bharatiya Janata Morcha (BJMM) Lamlai Mandal; BJP Sugnu Mandal Kakching Khunou Branch Office; BJP Nungba Mandal, BJP Sagolband Mandal and BJP Lamsang Mandal also condoled the demise of S Tikendra.
Left Front Co-Ordination Committee, Manipur, convenor Ksh Santa, BJP ST Morcha Manipur Pradesh vice president J Khongsai; Tamenglong District BJP president M Daniel mourned the demise of S Tikendra.
