Imphal, July 10:
The Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) today stated that the proposed visit of Congress MPs to take the stock of the situation following the uproar against the ceasefire extension is guided not by any sincere concern for the Manipuri people but to gain political mileage out of the situation.
Four Congress MPs including Mani Shankar Aiyar, BK Handique, PR Kyandi and R Rabi are slated to arrive tomorrow and take stock of the situation.
Stating that the proposed visit by the Parliamentary team is nothing but to gain political mileage.
It is on record that no political parties and their representatives have the best interest of the Manipuris in mind, the statement said.
Strongly criticizing all political parties for plunging the State into one crisis into another, the student body said that if the State political leaders want to meet their Central leaders they should go outside the state instead of inviting them here.
More lip service from the Central leaders will not placate the hurt feelings of the people, said the statement.
The statement said the sacrifice of fifteen persons who laid down their lives is not meant for any political party to take advantage of.
Their sacrifice was to preserve the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Even though the people had risen in one voice and MSF had also demanded of the State politicians to spell out their stand on the issue sincerely, nothing has been forthcoming from them.
