Imphal, July 10:
All former leaders of AMSU stated that though the assurance of the Prime Minister to review the ceasefire agreement is welcome this should not lead to complacency and AMSU and the people should continue with their democratic agitations against the ceasefire extension.
This was decided during a meeting of ex-AMSU leaders today.
The former student leaders also expressed gratitude to the people, cutting across communal community for rising up as one against the ceasefire extension.
They expressed firm hope that people would continue their agitation against the ceasefire unitedly until the final goal of complete revocation of it is achieved.
Adopting a far sighted stand, the former AMSU leaders said it is time people started discussing about the feasibility of obtaining constitutional guarantee that the territorial boundary of the State would not be tampered with in the future.
Noting that the movement to save the territorial integrity of Manipur has been launched since 1967-68 the former student leaders said it is wrong on the part of the State administration to arrest AMSU leaders for agitating to save the territorial boundary of the State.
The former leaders demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the AMSU leaders who are presently in jail.
The former leaders also appealed to all not to indulge in any anti-social activities during these trying days.
They also condemned the excesses of Delhi police on members of the Manipur Students Association, New Delhi while they were on a peaceful dharna.
