The All Manipur United Clubs� Organization, AMUCO, following s public meeting held today at the Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) hall, has endorse the stand of the United Committee Manipur (UCM) to continue mass movement until the decision to extend the Centre-NSCN (IM) ceasefire beyond Nagaland is revoked.
In an apparent shift of stance, the AMUCO has also given its approval for initiation of dialogue with the government of India on the issue, and on the question of Constitutional protection for Manipur�s territorial integrity.
The meeting, chaired by the AMUCO president, Ito Tongbram, and attended by around 1800 people, including representatives of 450 clubs and organizations, reaffirmed the People�s Declaration adopted by AMUCO, AMSU, NIPCO, IPSA and UPF on June 26 for defending the historically established territorial integrity of Manipur.
It further resolved to continue the mass movement until the agreement for extension of ceasefire beyond the legitimate jurisdiction of the State of Nagaland is withdrawn on both letter and spirit and till the existing boundary and territorial integrity of Manipur has been fully guaranteed in the Constitution of India.
The meeting also formally endorsed the formation of the United Committee Manipur for coordinating the ongoing democratic mass movement, and resolved to effectively implement the democratic programmes of the UCM.
It further agreed to cement the emotional integration of all groups of people of Manipur, and resolved to initiate dialogue among various communities of Manipur on the issue of ceasefire extension in Manipur.
The meeting has also authorized the executive committee of the AMUCO to handle the task of dialogue with the Government of India, as part of the UCM, on the question of withdrawal of the ceasefire extension, and prompt Constitutional protection of territorial integrity and existing boundaries of Manipur.
