Imphal, September 07 2020:
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has urged the Government to award exemplary punishment to all the culprits involved in sexually assaulting a 14-year old girl at Mayang Imphal which led to her death.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, MPCC vice-president Dr Kh Ratankumar while strongly condemning the incident in the strongest term, urged the Government to take up all necessary measures so that the Court award exemplary punishment to all the culprits.
He acknowledged the Chief Minister's statement that six individuals suspected to be involved in the heinous crime have been arrested.
Noting that the JAC constituted against the fatal sexual assault and several CSOs have been extending full cooperation to the Government, Ratankumar appealed to the Government to bring an agreement with the JAC so that the last rites can be performed for the deceased victim.
Notably, the dead body has been lying in RIMS mortuary for the last six days.
Asking if all the people involved in the heinous crime have been pulled up, the MPCC vice-president urged the Government to pull up all other suspects, if any one is still at large, and punish all the suspects if they are found guilty so that justice is done to the victim without undue delay.
