Imphal, August 29 2022:
CAF&PD minster L Susindro has urged the society to instill the sense of patriotism that freedom fighters like Haipou Jadonang had among the youth of the present generation and not to mislead the rich culture and tradition of the Kabui community.
He was speaking as chief guest of the observance of 91st death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang jointly organised by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur, Rongmei Naga Luphuam Manipur and Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur held at Siangai Namdai village under Bungte Chiru sub-division in Kangpokpi district on Monday.
Susindro further said that people of the state are proud to have freedom fighters like Haipou Jadonang.
Led by the sheer courage of protecting freedom, those brave-hearts fought against the mighty British despite the small size of Manipur.
He was a brave fighter, who killed five British soldiers including officers, for which he was arrested and hanged till death, he said.
Kabui is an indigenous community of the state, which has its own unique and rich culture and tradition.
It is not good to see many ignoring this rich culture and tradition in today's society.
It is the Kabui community, who should protect and promote their culture as conserving such heritage can instil the sense of patriotism among the youth, he added.
