Block level meeting on child rights held

Childline Service Tamenglong (CLST) conducted a block level meeting with Village Authority Chairmen Council (VACC), Tousem Block on Tuesday at SEO Tousem office conference hall in Tamenglong district headquarters.
The meeting attended by 23 VACC members and secretaries of different villages was Organised as Tousem area is one of the vulnerable areas under Tamenglong district to child trafficking and various child-related issues.
It was also aimed at enhancing collaboration with theChidline in uplifting the rights of children.
In his address, CLST director Ngankiuwang Kahmei, who was one of the programme facilitators, elaborated on child trafficking issues in Tousem sub-di vision.
The sub-division being socially backward, there were some instances of child-related cases, he said and urged the chairmen and secretaries present to collaborate and work hand in-hand with the Childline to ensure that child rights are protected and prevent them from further exploitation in any forms.
Another facilitator, Keithiupou TP informed the gathering that Childline services may always availed through contacting 1098 whenever child-related cases are encountered.
He further mentioned that Childline Service will intervene in any child related cases 24/7.Meanwhile, VACC rep resentatives assured the Childline team that they will take the responsibility of informing the Childline Service in any emergency cases and provide immediate responses in times of need and also assured their support and cooperation towards Childline Service.
