Kakching, May 22 2022:
34-Lamding Village Affected Pattadar Committee has drawn the attention of authority concerned over the ongoing NH 102 expansion work being carried out between Lilong and Wangjing which has caused flooding of nearby houses and markets and is becoming a health hazard for children.
In a release, Committee secretary L Sonamani stated that the landowners affected by the expansion of NH 102 had gladly given up their land except for few disputed areas for which process is presently going on for resolving it with district administration and National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
Unfortunately, NHIDCL has started construction of the road in disputed areas also.
Though the affected landowners are not in any way interrupting the project, construction of the road without proper drainage system has caused flooding in nearby shops, markets and houses, it noted.
The Committee further pointed out that the road is being constructed without proper crossings for inter village roads leading to Lamding PHC, Lamding Higher Secondary School, Progressive English School, etc.
There are also issues with the drainage system which is affecting houses near the market.
Hence, it appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest considering grievances of the locals.
