Liquor worth over ₹34 lakh disposed

Imphal, May 22 2022:
Under the supervision of Excise Commissioner Manipur, large quantities of IMFL, beers and locally brewed liquor worth around Rs 30 lakh were disposed at Excise headquarters complex, Lamphel here on Sunday.
The disposed IMFL and beers were seized during routine drives conducted in connection with the recently concluded 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly by Imphal West police commandos under the supervision of state's excise nodal officer.
Speaking in this regard, excise superintendent Thingbaijam Bruce Lee recalled the disposal of liquors seized in connection with the recently concluded assembly election for the first phase on February 7 .
The liquor consignment disposed on Sunday included IMFL and beers worth around Rs 6.5 lakh handed over to the Excise by Imphal West commandos after seizure during routine drives.
The disposal was done under Section 69 of Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act, 1991, he added.
On the other-hand, IMFL and DIC liquor worth around Rs 4,88,284 seized by Excise Enforcement Team of Thoubal district along with Andro police station and other police stations of Thoubal and Kakching districts were disposed by burning them with the permission of Commission Excise at Excise Station, Yairipok on Sunday.
The confiscated IMFL and DIC liquor were burned down in the presence of Excise district level nodal officer P Ranjit, Thoubal Excise OC L Surchandra, Pallel Excise OC S Praphullo and Andro police station OC MD Rayajuddin, Yairipok police station OC MD Jaheruddin, Nongpok Sekmai police station OC K Premkumar and other police personnel.
The liquor consignment was seized during drives conducted as per the order of Election Commission of India in connection With the 12th Manipur Assembly Election.
Speaking on the occasion, district level nodal officer P Ranjit informed that the liquor disposed included 4,646 litres of DIC liquor, 34.640 litres of IMFL and 9.5 litres of beer.
