Committee appeals for prompt action

The 34-Lamding Village Affected Pattadar Committee has drawn the attention of relevant authorities to take up action in connection with the pooling of stagnant water at the residences and market places along Lilong-Wanging Road caused by construction work for road expansion of National Highway 102 .
A statement issued by L Sonamani, secretary of 34-Lamding Affected Pattadar Committee has highlighted the serious health risks this stagnant water poses to children of the area.
The statement shared that the road expansion did not include construction of drains which has resulted in stagnant water pooling inside local shops, houses, market sheds and causing severe inconveniences in the daily lives of the people as well as posing a health risk.
The construction for road expansion of NH 102 has also blocked the entrances of several institutes including Lamding PHC, Progressive English School etc.
Mention was also made of the pending controversy surrounding the disputed affected area and determination of land value.
The statement added that the NHIDCL has proceeded with road expansion in still disputed areas.
