Dr Naorem Giridhari's 'Dynamic Library Service and Social Revolution' released

A book release ceremony of Dr Naorem Giridhari Singh's 'Dynamic Library Service and Social Revolution' was held at Library and Information Centre, Kakching today.
The event was organised by Naorem Trust."It may be noted that Dr Naorem Giridhari Singh is the former Chief Librarian at RIMS/JNIMS.
The book release function was conducted alongside the 420th edition of Special Sunday organised by Library and Information Centre, Kakching.
The day's event was attended by Kakching MLA M Rameshwar Singh as the chief guest, RK Urmila Devi, Chief Librarian, State Central Library, Imphal as the guest of honour and M Kunjakesho Singh, vice-president, Library and Information Centre as the president of the function.
Dr Ch Ibohal Singh, Head Department of Library and Information Science, Manipur University introduced the book to the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, RK Urmila Devi said that libraries are centres of knowledge and provide a clear reflection of the current state of society."She called for proper implementation of the Manipur Public Library Act and the establishment of a separate library directorate in order to ensure that the State is at the forefront in terms of education.
Mentioning the inclusion of library fees in school admission fees, she stated that students receive no benefits for their payment and rued at the condition of libraries in the schools and colleges of the State.
She appealed for the setting up of proper libraries and a knowledgeable librarian for educational institutions across the state.
As a part of today's event various competitions were conducted such as quiz competition, Thang-Ta competition, song and dance competition and yoga competition.
Prizes were also distributed to students.
