Polling personnel advised to get vaccinated

In connection with the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, District Election Officer (DEO) for Thoubal and Kakching Ah-anthem Subash has appealed to all polling personnel and voters to get inoculated against Covid-19 at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at his office on Thursday, Sub-ash informed that election no-tification for Thoubal and Ka-kching districts will be issued on February 4 .
The last date of submission of election form for 10 seats in the two districts is February 11, scrutiny of nom-ination papers on 14, last date of withdrawal of candidature on February 16 and voting on March 3, he added.
There are 3,19,126 voters in the two districts of which 2,379 are differently abled, 28 transgender and 3939 voters above 80 years of age.
Accord-ing to the instructions of ECI, differently abled, third gender and voters above 80 years will be given the opportunity of voting through postal ballot, Subash continued, while add-ing that there are 391 polling stations in the two districts.
Moreover, ECI has approved setting up of four auxiliaries in places which have more than 1250 polling stations.Conveying that ECI has in-structed to make sure that all polling personnel and voters complete their Covid-19 sec-ond dose vaccination, the DEO urged all to get vaccinated against Covid-19 without fail.
Meanwhile, Deputy Com-missioner Hungyo, in an order, informed all villages/ward authorities within the jurisdiction of the Tamen-glong district to mobilise, support and participate in vaccination drive in view of the upcoming election and low Covid vaccination in the district.
He urged all SDOs con-cerned to initiate necessary actions before the visit of vac-cination team by contacting the village authorities/ward members, religious leaders, influential people and support in the mobilisation for ensur-ing vaccination of maximum number of people.
