Imphal, January 27 2022:
Alleging that 107 posts have been ap-pointed through fraudulent means in Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has demanded the government and authority concerned to investigate the matter by constituting an independent enquiry committee.Addressing a press meet at its office here on Thursday, KSA secretary (youth affairs and sports) H Bablu said that the Board was established under section 4 of Water (Preser-vation and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 with the objective to control pollution of water, air and soil.
Unfortunately, chairman of the board appointed 107 posts in violation of the Manipur Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules 1991, he said.
In May, June and October, 2018, the Board appointed 55 posts on contract basis.
Recently, the Board also appointed 52 posts including some non-existent posts, just before the announcement of election model code of conduct, by issuing relevant orders through back dating.
These appointments were made without any resolution of the board or approval of the government, Bablu said.
Expressing strong objections to these fraudulent appointments, he said that KSA will submit complaint letters to CEO Ma-nipur, chief secretary and additional chief secretary (forest and environment.
He also expressed possibilities of involvement of some MLAs or ministers in the backdoor appointment and demanded probe by an independent enquiry committee.
