Ex-minister Haokholet to contest in Saitu AC

Former minister Haokholet Kipgen, who is also chief of Hengbung village and former ST Morcha national vice president, on Thursday declared that he will contest the election for the 12th Manipur Legislative
Assembly from Saitu Assembly Constituency.
The 64 years old politician, the only candidate to win the assembly election uncontested in the year 1998 made the official announcement in the presence of tribe leaders of Saitu AC, village chiefs, youth leaders, ex-MDCs and civil bodies on Thursday in a public declaration cum blessing programme at his native village.
Haokholet Kipgen, who had earlier expressed confidence of getting the BJP ticket, asserted that he will win the election with the love and support of the people of Saitu assembly constituency.
The third senior-most leader in the BJP from among the hill districts, Haokholet said that he has decided to contest the election to bring sustainable peace so that people of Saitu assembly constituency live peacefully and to contribute to the state and national
level policy making.
As the Election Core Committee of Haokholet Kipgen was announced, Rev Letkhothong Haokip invoked blessing prayer for the intending candidate and his Committee.
Tribe leaders of Saitu
assembly constituency including Liangmei, Chiru, Rongmei, Vaiphei, Koireng, Nepali, Haokip and Kom, etc., also spoke on the occasion.
