Many areas in Senapati to remain under C-zone till May 29

In view of the rising COVID-19 cases, the district administration on Saturday decided to continue containment measures in several areas of Senapati district till May 29.Accordingly, Senapati headquarters, Maram Bazar area, Tadubi town area and Mao town area have been declared as containment zone by an order issued by district magistrate Mahesh Chaudhari.
The order came into effect from 3 PM of May 22.As per the findings of the medical department and observing the trend of positive cases being detected within the market area and other locations of the district; it has become extremely difficult to conduct contact tracing of all those who came in contact with the positive patients as it includes some of the most crowded areas of the district, the order said.
Earlier, the District Task Force meeting (May 20) on COVID-19 chaired by PHE Minister L Dikho in the presence of District Magistrate and members of the task force including Police Department, Health Department and CSOs felt the need to extend the period for effective contact tracing to break the chain of transmission in the district.
The containment zone covers Tusii Ngaonii Khumai (TNK) in the east, Kathikho Karong in the north, Ta-phou Naga and Katomei in the west and Taphou Liangmai in the south of Senapati town area, Maram town area, Tadubi town area and Mao town area.
With the areas being declared as containment zone, no unauthorised activities will be allowed in the said areas while officials concerned will initiate active surveillance of COVID-19 cases and ban public gathering of any type.
However, vehicles carrying essential items, medicines and equipment will be exempted from the purview of the prohibitory order.
Other activities exempted are works of both state and national projects carried out within the district; home delivery of essential commodities (including supplementary nutrition for children, pregnant & lactating mothers, food items, vegetables, groceries, fish feeds/animal feeds & milk products), medical institutions including pharmacies; people going out for vaccination, COVID-19 testing and those of child protection services, movement of healthcare workers and frontline workers from various departments on COVID-19 related duties as assigned by the district magistrate, banking services with limited staff from 10 AM to 2:30 PM, ATM services and vehicle repairing workshops along the National Highway-2, agriculture and related activities with proper SOPs maintained.
