Highest single day spike of 757 cases recorded with 13 deaths

Imphal, May 22 2021:
Even as Manipur recorded the highest one day infections of 757, as many as 652 persons recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate stands at 83.69 per cent.
Notably, the previous highest one day infections of 730 was reported on May 15 while 726 new cases were reported on the previous day (May 14) .
Significantly, the 757 new cases were found positive while testing a total of 3,163 samples.
According to a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room today, the State also witnessed 13 deaths due to Covid in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 674 .
The total number of positive cases in the State has reached 43,322 including 6,390 active cases.
A total of 36,258 people have recovered from the disease.
Meanwhile, the 757 new cases include 429 males and 328 females.
They tested positive for COVID-19 at District Hospitals (267), RIMS (110), JNIMS (83) and private testing centres (297) .
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report most daily cases.
Out of the 757 new cases, 336 belong to Imphal West while Imphal East reported 141 cases.
The remaining cases were detected from Churachandpur (82), Bishnupur (54), Kakching (48), Kamjong (31), Thoubal (25), Senapati (14), Tamenglong (9), Chandel (5), Kangpokpi (5), Ukhrul (3), Tengnoupal (2) and Noney (2) .
Even as the number of deaths slightly dipped from 15 reported yesterday, 6 of the 13 deaths in the last 24 hours belong to Imphal West.
Imphal East reported 4 deaths while Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur districts reported one case each.
All of the 13 victims were above the age of 40 and include three women.
The victims from Imphal West were two women aged 56 and 65 years and four men aged 45, 55, 62 and 80 years.
The victims from Imphal East include a 46-year-old woman and three men aged 72, 72 and 82 years.
The victims from Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur were aged 46, 75 and 64 years respectively.
On the other hand, the 652 persons who have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours include 500, who were under home isolation.
The remaining have been discharged from Covid care centres opened at Lamboikhongnangkhong (28), Ukhrul (13), NSU (12), SHRI (12), Thoubal (10), JNIMS (9), Kangpokpi (8), LANVA (7), Bishnupur (6), Rajmed (5), RD Wing (4), Babina Specialty Hospital (2), Churachandpur (2), RIMS (1), Jivan Hospital (1), Tamenglong (1) and Jiribam (1) .
The cumulative number of Covid positive cases is 43,322 (general population-39,603 and Central security personnel-3,719) .
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 36,258 (general population-32,668 and Central security personnel-3,590) .
The number of active cases is 6,390 (general population-6,266 and Central security personnel-124) .
So far, 3,42,781 persons have been vaccinated against COVID-19, said the report of the Government Covid control room.
Meanwhile, it has also asked air passengers who arrived at Imphal on May 20 by Air India AI-889 in rows 14-35 to inform the control room at 1800-345-3818 of respective District Surveillance Officers for necessary testing and surveillance.
Significantly, 32 air passengers were tested today and four were found positive for Covid.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1366 D-type oxygen cylinders and 504 B-type cylinders have been made available to different health care institutions, said the Covid report.
