Imphal, May 22 2017:
Suchitra, wife of one Samandoram Benjit who is currently undergoing treatment at JNIMS after he was picked up and thrashed by Irilbung police, has appealed to the authority concerned for justice.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Suchitra said that the unfortunate incident started at around 7 pm of Sunday when her husband, Benjit, came home to find a Maruti 800 blocking their alley.
Benjit slightly pushed the car up front to make room for his activa but one side mirror of the car got damaged and the body got a little dented in the process.
She claimed that after a while, some women came and began to question her husband why he had moved the car.
Although the situation eventually subsided, a team of Irilbung police later came and picked up her husband during dinner and refused to answer why they were arresting him.
She said that when the family members went to the police station, they discovered that Benjit had been seriously injured and was rushed to JNIMS.
Condemning the inhumane treatment, Suchitra appealed to the authority concerned to deliver justice for her husband and to take up necessary actions.
