National Lok Adalat held, 99 cases settled

Imphal, December 09 2023:
Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in collaboration with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authority conducted the last National Lok Adalat for the current year at High Court of Manipur and other district courts on Saturday.
Out of 209 cases tabled during the Adalat, 99 cases worth Rs 1,62,56,867 were settled.
High Court chief justice and MASLSA patron-in chief Justice Siddharth Mridul, MASLSA executive chairman Justice A Bimol Singh and High Court judge, justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu inspected Thoubal Court Complex arid Lamphel Court Complex where sittings of the National Lok Adalat were held.
Speaking on the side lines, justice Siddharth Mridul pointed out that those pending pre-litigation and civil cases can be transferred to the Lok Adalat where bank recovery, MACT, matrimonial disputes, land acquisition and cases related to electricity and water bill, compoundable criminal case, etc., could be settled within a short time.
Informing that one can simply visit MASLSA Help Desk Or Front Office and District Legal Services Authority for assistance in transferring cases to the Lok Adalat, Siddharth Mridul conveyed that no fees will be charged for the process from the parties.
He urged the public to avail benefit of Lok Adalat and settle their pending cases.
Meanwhile, a total of 226 cases were referred to the Lok Adalat held at Thoubal Court out of which 26 were considered and 21 settled.
