Three killed in separate accidents

Imphal, August 29 2022: At least three people were killed in separate accidents which occurred at different places on Sunday and Monday According to a police report, a man driving an Activa was killed after he met with a self-accident at Cheiraoching under Lamphel PS on Monday around 10.30 am.

The deceased man has been identified as M Krishnakanta (18) s/o M Khomei of Pukhao Naharup.

Meanwhile, a young woman was killed after a Bullet Royal Enfield (MN 04 G 2905) collided with a bike at Naoremthong Khullem Leikai under Lamphel PS at around 1.30 pm on Monday.

The deceased woman has been identified as Chanchan Soubam (30) d/o Soubam Rajeshwar of Keishampat Konjeng Hazari, Dobhi Machu Leirak.

As per the report, the Bullet Royal Enfield was coming in from Iroishemba direction when it collided with the bike heading towards Iroishemba.

Chanchan, who was riding pillion, was thrown off the Bullet and crushed by a water tanker (MN 05C 2270) coming from Iroishemba side, killing her on the spot.

The biker, which collided with the Bullet fled from the scene and is untraceable.

Chanchan's body has handed over to her family for performing last rites, after the conduct of post mortem examination at RIMS Morgue.

Lamphel PS has registered a case in connection with the incident and investigation is underway.

On the other hand, a Tata Truck (NL01L-7469) coming in from Sekmai side collided head-on with a van (MN04A-0617) heading towards Imphal at Khonghampat Laikol under Sekmai PS on Sunday around 7.30 pm, resulting in the death of the van driver.

The deceased van driver has been identified as Tokpam Umakanta (35) s/o Kiran Singh of Bishnupur Ward No 4, presently residing at Sekmai Thanga Leikai, the report informed.
