State's Covid tally crosses 42K with 656 new cases; 15 succumb

As the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic continues to surge, the cumulative number of affected people in the state has crossed 42,000 on Friday with the government bulletins reporting 656 new positive cases and 15 fatalities.
With the addition of 656 new cases and discharge of 676 cases along with update of 571 pending discharged cases, the active caseload in the state as of Friday is said to be 6298 .
Out of the total active cases, 4331 are in home isolation and the remaining 1967 are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including Covid Care Centres.
The last seven days reported 4243 new cases and 109 fatalities while 10,979 new cases and 256 fatalities were added during the current month.
So far, 14,377 new cases and 306 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year.

The 15 fatalities reported on Friday included a 40-year old female (IE), a 76-year old male (IW), a 58-year old male (Kpi), a 57-year old female (Kpi), a 35-year old male (IW), a 76-year old female (IW), a64-year old male (IW), a 38-year old female (IW), a 39-year old male (IW), a 75-year old male (IW), a 56-year old male (IW), a 40-year old male (IW), a 68-year old female (IW), a 57-year old male (IW) and a 58-year old male (IE) who died at Raj Medicity (2), CCC Kangpokpi (2), RIMS (5) and JNIMS (6) hospital respectively.
The cumulative number of deaths is 661 .
According to official reports, the 656 new cases included 654 people (339 male & 315 female) from among the general population and two personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (29), JNIMS (84), District Hospitals (183) and other private testing centres (360) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (157), Imphal West (288), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (39), Kakching (45), Ukhrul (ll), Churachandpur (71), Chandel (8), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (3), Tengnoupal (l) and Kangpokpi (ll).
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 676 patients were discharged from CAPF (12), home isolation (515), RIMS (11), JNIMS (10), RD Wing (5), BB (16), NSU (19), SHRI (26), Babina Speciality Hospital (7), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (11), Jivan Hospital (2), RAJMED (l), Thoubal (6), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (ll), Ukhrul 16), Chandel (l), Senapati (l), Kangpokpi (l) and Jiribam (l) .
CCR report added another 571 already discharged cases, which it stated as reported only on Friday due to various reasons.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 42,565 (general population - 38,846 and CAPF personnel - 3,719).Number of recovered cases is 35,606 (general population - 32,029 and CAPF personnel - 3,577) and number of active cases is 6298 (general population - 6161 and CAPF personnel -137) .
The recovery rate is 83.65 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1456 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 355 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities in the state.
So far, 3,35,396 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19, the CCR report added.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (15,192), Imphal East (9894), Thoubal (3163), Churachandpur (2919), Kangpokpi (1373), Tamenglong (1650), Bishnupur (2248), Senapati (938), Ukhrul (975), Kakching (1673), Chandel (821), Noney (488), Tengnoupal (471), Jiribam (386), Kamjong (334), and Pherzawl (40).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (251), Imphal East (168), Thoubal (68), Churachandpur (51), Kangpokpi (19), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (44), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (8), Kakching (22), Chandel (12), Noney (l), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (l), Kamjong (2) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 13,717 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 18,868 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,17,739 tests per million population against the national average of 2,33,063 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 3157 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 20.78 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 6.30 per cent.
