Imphal, June 17 2013:
Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the infamous gang-rape case of a woman U-morok trader has demanded to award life imprisonment to all the accused who have been pronounced 'guilty' by the law court.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) here today, Kakomlunglu Kamei, Convenor of the JAC thanked S Ibomcha Singh, Session Judge of Imphal West for speedy trial of the case and hoped that the final verdict to be announced on 19th June would be no less than life imprisonment for all the accused rapists.
Considering the nature of the crime that the four accused namely Ibomcha of Thongju Makhong; Seram Bijen of Uripok Sorbonthingel; Kennedy of Kongpal Chanam Leikai and Khetrimayum Rojit of Kongpal Chanam, have committed against an innocent woman, life imprisonment would be the most befitting punishment, Kakomlunglu asserted.
