Two officers suspended over Moreh land sale row: Devendra

State Revenue Minister Th Devendra has said that the sale of 160 acres of land near Kondong Lairembi, Moreh to Assam Rifles is true and two officers namely Chandel SDC Ibohal and Assistant Settlement Officer Imocha have been suspended in connection with the case.
He was replying to a Calling Attention Motion raised by Opposition Leader Dr I Ibohalbi regarding the sale of land to Assam Rifles at Moreh in the ongoing 5th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today.
MLA Ibohalbi asked if the Revenue Department had given assent to the sale of land and who are the officials involved in the case.
He further questioned the role of TD Minister of that time in this case.
Replying to Ibohalbi, Revenue Minister Devendra said that the land near Kondong Lairembi, Moreh was sold to Assam Rifles on May 16, 2005 .
The land was previously enlisted as "Reserved Forest Area" by Manipur Durbar in 1946 and then as "Wild Life Sanctuary Area" in 1998.However, the land was found to be registered under the name of one Doujapao while the State government was trying to extend Manipur Land Reforms and Land Revenue Act to Moreh and some parts of Senapti district, he noted.
He further stated that the State government had taken much time in investigating the case, but two officers have been suspended in connection with the case.
Further investigation in the case is still in progress, Devendra disclosed.
Revenue Minister said that the land in question was sold out to Assam Rifles for Rs.67 lakhs.
One ADC member happened to be a witness in the sale.
The land was previously chosen by the State government for construction of a Police Station.
MLA K Sarat also raised another Calling Attention Motion regarding a fire that raged some buildings inside MSRTC Complex, Dimapur.
Replying to the Motion, Transport Minister Dr K Ratankumar stated that the fire broke out at 10.15 pm on June 5 at Quarters No.6, 7, 8 and 9 .
An inquiry has been conducted regarding the incident.
A court case is still pending on the land where the MSRTC complex stands, he added.
