Imphal, June 17 2013:
Rejecting the appeal made by Advocate General of Manipur Government to refund the money collected on application and other fees from MBBS/BDS aspiring candidates, Manipur High Court has issued an interim order over the cancellation of Manipur MBBS/BDS entrance examination-2013 .
During the hearing of the case filed by All Manipur MBBS/BDS 2013 Entrance Examination Parents/Guardians' Association against the cancellation of the examination in the High Court today, the Advocate General was unable to produce the Supreme Court's order on whose basis the State Cabinet took the decision of cancelling the medical entrance examination, instead submitted an irrelevant notification issued by Medical Council of India (MCI) in 2010, according to a statement issued by Secretary of the Association K Arun Meetei.
Explaining about the MCI notification of 2010, Arun informed that challenging the said notification, Indian medical colleges have filed a case and it is still pending in the Supreme Court.
Nonetheless, some of the states have conducted medical examinations even after an interim order had been issued by the Supreme Court in connection with the case, Arun asserted.
He also informed that as the Advocate General of the State Government has not been able to produce the relevant document, the High Court has fixed June 25 as the date for final hearing of the case filed by the Association.
