Imphal, January 12 2015:
Villagers of Khabam Lamkhai in Imphal East has on Monday urged the Manipur Chief Minister not to revise the proposed Imphal City Ring project based on scientific Geo-positioning, saying any change in the aligned route of the project will affect more residents.
The existing Inter Village Road (IVR) from Khabam Lamkhai to Khabam village has already been worked on by the state Government for the proposed Imphal City Ring Road, a memorandum to the Chief Minister said.
Talking to reporters, Waikhom Bihari Singh, a resident of Khabam Lamkhai, said after earmarking of land for expansion of the IVR in view of development of Marjing Polo Complex, some residents have started construction of buildings and structures within the patta lands.
He said a new aligned route along the IVR for the Imphal City Ring Road will affect these new buildings, adding the previous plan of the Government affects only two-three houses in the area.
He said the memorandum signed by 23 residents has urged Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh not to change the earlier aligned route for the Imphal City Ring Road.
The residents threatened to seek legal help if changes are made in the already proposed aligned route.
