Imphal, May 08 2015 :
The ongoing process for election to the six ADCs is undemocratic and prone to violence.
That is why, CPI Manipur State Council has refrained from fielding any candidate, said the party's secretary Dr M Nara.
Speaking to some media persons at Irabot Bhavan here today, Dr Nara said that CPI has many members in the hill districts of Manipur and there were proposals to contest the ADC election in some seats.
At the same time, there were threats and prohibitions on contesting the ADC election on CPI symbol.
Considering the security of the prospective candidates, the party pulled out from the ADC election as it has already become quite undemocratic.
CPI has been exerting pressure on the Government to replace or rectify the electoral system currently in practice.
Absence of good governance and degeneration of democratic values are some other factors which drove the party to pull out from the ADC election, Dr Nara said.
