No progress sans women empowerment: MoS Bhoumik

Union minister of state for social justice and women empowerment Pratima Bhoumik said that the country cannot progress without empowering its women.
The BJP union minister from Tripura was attending a distribution function of cards related to women empowerment schemes to beneficiaries of Khurai assembly constituency on Sunday.
Speaking during the function at the residence of MLA L Susindro, Pratima Bhoumik maintained that the BJP government at the Centre has been giving special focus to Manipur and the recent extension of Inner Line Permit System in the state is the testimony of the Centre's view towards the state and its people.
Mentioning about the renaming of Mount Harriet in Andaman and Nicobar Island as Mount Manipur as announced by union minister Amit Shah, she said that it also shows how the Centre respects the history of Manipur.
She also claimed that law and order situation has improved significantly in the state under the BJP government.
During the Covid pandemic, the BJP government provided free food grains to the public so that they do not go hungry.
Women empowerment is a must in today's society and it can help in bringing inclusive development, she said and hailed MLA Susindro for his initiative in providing benefits to women in his constituency.
The society can progress only through women empowerment, she said while urging the public to support the BJP government and its efforts of empowering women.
Khurai MLA L Susindro and BJP Mahila Morcha Khurai Mandal office bearers attended the event during which presidents and secretaries of different polling stations shared their experiences and inconveniences they are facing in their respective areas.
On the other-hand, Pratima Bhoumik launched Thambal Campaign of BJP for Imphal East district at the residence of BJP state council member Khongbantabam Ibomcha at Nongada on.
Speaking at the launch programme, the MoS reminded the gathering that dissenting voices filled the state during the 15 years of Congress government.
However, the state has become peaceful with the coming of BJP government.
The launching of the campaign was attended by BJP Manipur vice president and Imphal East in-charge N Nimbus, general secretary L Deben, Imphal East district president December, Lamlai Mandal president E Amitkumar among others.
Under the supervision of Kh Ibomcha and as a part of BJP Seva Hi Sangathan II, PMJAY health cards were also distributed to 85 beneficiaries.
