NEPA launches 53rd Basic Course for DSPs, SIs

The North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA) launched the 53rd Basic Course, specifically designed for directly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and Sub-Inspectors (SIs) .
The launch ceremony held at NEPA's Umsaw campus had the presence of Meghalaya deputy chief minister and home minister Prestone Tynsong along with Director General of Police, Meghalaya Dr LR Bishnoi.
Addressing the young trainee officers and the audience, the deputy CM emphasised the crucial role of well-trained officers in maintaining law and order, acknowledging the sacrifices made by officers who selflessly serve the nation.
He expressed concern over the criticism faced by law enforcement officers despite their dedicated service and encouraged the trainees to persevere, maintain self-discipline, and strive to be the best in serving the nation.
Recognising the Academy s recent UT-KRISHT accreditation by CBC and NABET, Prestone Tynsong commended the past and present achievements and lauded the director of the Academy and its faculty members.
Highlighting the importance of law subjects and public relations in police training, he urged the trainees to undergo a transformation from within and learn from NEPA, considered among the best in the country.
In his keynote address, director of the Academy Anurag Agarwal exhorted the young trainee officers to give their best during their training and aspire to become outstanding police officers in the service of the nation.
The course director of the 53rd Basic Course, Dr ML Zou, assistant director (Lecturer), provided a brief overview of the current batch.
The batch comprises total of 95 trainees, including 26 females, from Meghalaya (39 SIs, 6 DSPs), Manipur (8 SIs, 14 DSPs), Assam (15 SIs), and Nagaland (4 SIs, 9 DSPs) .
