Senapati, December 04 2023:
The All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) remembered the infamous Oting incident of 2021 and demanded withdrawal of AFSPA from Naga areas.
In a statement, ANSAM said 14 innocent Nagas were brutally "massacred" by the Indian Armed Forces in the Mon district of Nagaland on this day in 2021 .
The body also recalled "Operation Bluebird 1987 and various other incidents that are still haunting the Naga people with fear and tears" .
Paying respect to those who have lost their lives in the incidents, ANSAM asserted that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 must be repealed from the Naga areas.
The Nagas are peace loving people and have been maintaining peace and harmony in all the Naga areas since the signing of Indo-Naga Ceasefire in 1997 which has paved a way for signing the Framework Agreement between the Government of India (GoI) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) on August 3, 2015, it said.
In compliance with a resolution of the Naga Students' Federation (NSF), ANSAM said it has reaffirmed stance to extend non co-operation towards the Indian Armed Forces until AFSPA is completely repealed from Naga areas.
