AR recovers banned wildlife products

Discovering the transportation of banned wildlife products on NH-102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended two smugglers along with banned wildlife products on Mar 21.According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), the suspicious vehicle, a silver coloured Van registration Number AS-05A-2568 was stopped by the troops of 24 Assam Rifles and on a thorough check of the vehicle banned wildlife products were recovered.
Approximately 18.300 Kgs Pangolin Shells, 1.250 Kgs Deer Horns, cash Rs 3,960/- (Indian currency), 3,250/- (Myanmarese currency), two driving licences, one Myanmarese card, one vehicle registration card, two Mobile Phones and one voter card were recovered.
The apprehendees were identified as M Lianzaksp, (43) S/o M Zam Do Nang, of Hmuia Veng Lanka, PO/PS/Dist- Churachandpur and driver of the vehicle, Md Amu (26) S/o Md Iboyai of Khetri Awang Leikai, PO- Simjamei, PS- Porompat, Dist- Imphal East.
The apprehendees alongwith the recovered items were handed over to Forest Department Imphal, the PRO statement added.
