"Beekeeping has ample benefits"

Imphal, January 14 2020:
A three day training programme on scientific beekeeping under the All India Coordinated Project on Honey Bees and Pollinators project of CAU, was kickstarted at the university's campus at Iroishemba today.
College of Food Technology, CAU, Dean Professor Y Jekendra, Horticulture Department Professor AK Bijaya and College of Agriculture, Agronomy Professor Maibam Sumanjit attended as presidium members.
Altogether 41 farmers from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kakching, Thoubal, Kamjong and Ukhrul districts are participating in the training programme.
Speaking at the function, Principal Investigator of the project Dr Kh Ibohal said that the benefits of beekeeping is not limited to extracting/producing honey only but also includes production of materials like wax, royal jelly etc, which can generate extra income or profit.
Dr Kh Ibohal continued that bees carry out pollination with other plants beautifully which in turn helps in enhancing production of fruits and vegetables.
