MU Home guards to cease work strike

With no action taken up against the students of Manipur University staying in Lamaiching Hostel (Boys Hostel no.3) in connection with assaulting one Home Guard personnel on duty at Thangjing Hostel (Boys Hostel no.1) on the night of April 14, the Home Guards deployed in the varsity have decided to launch a cease work strike from tomorrow.
With the launching of the cease work strike, the Home Guards deployed in all the hostels of Manipur University, Administrative Block, Main Gate, Bungalow of Vice Chancellor and the Registrars' quarter would stay away from duty from tomorrow.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Irom Tombi, Commander of the Home Guards on duty at Manipur University said that the assault on the Home Guard was very unfortunate.
The university authority has been informed of the incident and pressed for taking up necessary actions but no positive actions have been taken up so far.
A case has also been registered with Singjamei Police Station in connection with the incident of assault.
