Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club today, Council secretary Haji arafat Ali said MD Islamuddin, who was staying at Hatta Golapati, went to Thoubal Laitanpokpi, the parental home of his divorced wife Rahamani (22), on March 21 morning to settle certain financial dispute.
Islamuddin carried Rs 40,000 as he was supposed to retain possession of gold ornaments which Rahamani took at the time of divorce (February 16, 2014), informed the secretary adding that one Sultana of Thoubal Laitanpokpi contacted the family members of Islamuddin telling them that he committed suicide by consuming poison at his wife's house.
Even though Islamuddin reportedly passed away at Shija Hospital after initial treatment at Thoubal District Hospital and RIMS Hospital, there were bruised marks over his body apparently hinting that Islamuddin was subjected to physical assault before being killed, observed Haji Arafat.
