Chandel, March 16 2015:
One day district level workshop on observation and launching of National Rural Drinking water awareness week was inaugurated at DRDA training hall, Chandel DC complex on Monday.
The event was organised by District Water and sanitation Committee Chandel in association with the Christian Social development Organisation and it is scheduled to go on till March 20 with different activities schedule to take up at different places of the district.
In today's inaugural function, Deputy Commissioner of Chandel Robert Singh Khetrimayum was present as the Chief Guest while Chief Medical Officer and 2ic of 20 Assam Rifles Dr MP Gaihaipou attended the day as Guest of honour and resource person too.
District Co-ordinator of Chandel PHED Division Jameson Bungdon who is also the Section Officer of the same department presented PPT slides on 'an overview of National Rural Drinking Water & sanitation week & Role of VWSC in water supply management' .
Jameson Bungdon on the slides highlighted activities which would be conducted throughout the week and that included audio enhancement in every GP by VWSC on issue of drinking water & sanitation throughout the block from the second day onwards.
Gram Sabha meeting for PRI members or local leaders at all blocks on the third day, literary competition for school students at ACI Chakpikarong and Chandel district head quarters on March 19 .
The weeklong awareness campaign would be closed on March 20 with a mass rally and a closing ceremony with prize distribution to be held at the district head quarters Chandel.
The programme was attended by engineers of Chandel PHED division, VLWSC members, village chiefs, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers.
