Imphal, May 10 2015 :
Manipur People's Party has raised a political storm over the reported incursion into Manipur's Dzujou valley in the Senapati district by the Nagaland government officials and NGOs, says a press statement issued by Y Bhim, general secretary (publicity) of the party on Sunday.
It said that the Senapati district officials had verified the ongoing construction works of the 15 KM long road and a rest house in the valley which is a tourist and adventure sports spot.
Though this report had been submitted two times to the government in February and April this year no actions have been taken up.
This is a mockery of the oft repeated "stand" of the Congress ministry that it will protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Bhim further says that the construction works are being undertaken under the overall supervision of the Southern Angami People's Organisation.
It may be mentioned that on one occasion, the Manipur government officials had gone there for a spot verification.
Since the Manipur government has not constructed even a road from Mao to the valley the officials had to take detour from Angami areas.
They were mobbed and handed over to police who in turn dumped them in the police lock up.
In normal circumstances, the bona fide officials should have been released honorably since they were not violating any law.
The union home ministry pulled up the then Nagaland chief minister SC Jamir following which the officials were released immediately.
