The Economic Development Research Group, Manipur has submitted a proposal to the 13th finance commission insisting to award above 40 percent shareable pool of central taxes/divisible pool taxes, said a statement of the body while citing that it was mean for awarding Rs 30,000 crores for the state of Manipur.
While submitting the representation which focused on the account of the financial reform and economic policy with the initiative of the state chief secretary and officials of the state finance department, president and secretary of the body also had audience with the members of the finance commission visited the state on January 22 at around 4.30 pm.
The representation also urged to give an unemployment allowance to end the problems of un-employment and also demanded for formation of a compensatory fund which provides special drawing rights in the context of world recession and financial melting down, it said.
The representation also drew the attention to plan to solve the power shortage in the state by looking feasibility of a nuclear power generation in the state among others.
