A TWO-DAY workshop on basic human rights and rights to information kicked off yesterday at Shekinuh Inn in Tamenglong district organized by the Women Union for Progress, Tamenglong jointly with Committee for Development of Tamenglong concluded today.
The main highlight of the sessions of the workshop was welfare schemes of the government and failure of its implementation.
In the second day of the session which Meihoubam Rakesh, director Human Rights Law Networks, Manipur conducted, the participants of the workshop discussed on the genesis of rights to information in India which was followed by a talk on RTI Act 2005 by Wahengbam Joykumar, RTI activist.
Joykumar highlighted the roles of state public information officers, appellate authorities etc.
During the workshop, the participants were imparted on how to draft an application for obtaining information on RTI Act and others process.
