Slain UG suspects identified

Imphal, September 21 2012:
Identity of one of the two militants, whom the troops of 10th Assam Rifles claimed to have eliminated during a gun battle which took place September 19 at Abulok canal near Don Bosco School, Phayeng under Lamshang Police Station in Imphal West, have been established today.
The slain militant is identified as one Oinam Naoba, alias Ingoba, 21, son of O Tomcha, a native of Keibung Chingmai Makha Leikai under Moirang Police Station.
According to his family, Naoba was a surrendered militant of the proscribed PREPAK and that he laid down arm before the state Chief Minister during a home coming ceremony held at IGAR (S), Mantripukhri last year.
The former PREPAK militant did not establish further link with the outfit since the day he surrendered before Chief Minister O Ibobi, they insisted, adding it was really unfortunate that he had been killed during an encounter as claimed by 10th Assam Rifles.
One AK 47 rifle along with ammunition, one IED, two hand grenade and another 2.3 pistol were recovered from the possession of the two militants, the AR had claimed.
The identity of the other militant is yet to be established.
The unclaimed body is still lying at the mortuary of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
