Imphal, April 15 2010:
While appreciating the opening of an AIR FM station at Churachandpur to facilitate dissemination of information and other useful programmes through some major local languages of the district, the Council of Tribal Literature Societies, Manipur has, at the same time, decried the alleged non-reflection of any fund for the 34 tribal languages in the State budget of both the Education DepartmentsSchool Education and Higher Education for teaching and learning of these languages.
A press release issued by the Council's chairman Ragongning Gangmei urged upon the State Government to retrospect its alleged apathy of these languages for decades and take up their causes with a new challenge so that a new social order is brought in the State where no one feels alienated and all people alike have the spirit of common belongingness to the State.
