Centre will protect the North East folks: Biren

Claiming that the leaders of NDA are visionaries, Chief Minister N Biren has exuded confidence that the Central Government will give necessary concessions to protect the indigenous communities of the North East States.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural function of the silver jubilee celebration of Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (TRCP/AMN) which began today at Chingmeirong Kabui Khul, Imphal East.
Leaders of the incumbent Central Government are all visionaries.
The Central Government would take up necessary measures so as to ensure that all the indigenous communities in the North East region are protected.

However, he did not spell out how the indigenous people of the North East will be protected vis-a-vis the CAB.
Biren further encouraged protection and preservation of one's own identity, culture and other values which have been handed down by the forefathers.
He also lauded TRCP/AMN for their role in preserving and promoting their own identity, culture and other such values.
He said that despite facing threats at different levels, Zeliangrong community is still able to protect and follow their traditional practices of Tingkao Ragwang by forming Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom.
"Preserving one's own identity, culture, script, language and other values are important and those who have such quality and ability to protect such values, irrespective of which religion they belong, are highly respected all over the world", he added.
Citing the role taken by the Japanese people who visit Manipur every year to pay tributes at the graveyards of their forefathers who died here during the 2nd World War, Biren observed that following the footsteps of forefathers and protecting the traditions and other values handed down by forefathers is important.
He also lauded the role taken by Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom saying the said religious council is doing their best in preaching the good values of Tingkao Ragwang faith in Manipur, Assam and Nagaland.
Saying that there have been lots of changes in the State and North East region in the past few years with the BJP led NDA Government giving special emphasis on taking forward the North East region, he reminded that the same Government has even given special recognition to the role taken by Rani Gaidinliu in the freedom struggle against the mighty Britishers by naming a ship of the Indian Navy after her.
The State Government has also been able to build a memorial park in the name of Haipou Jadonang at the place where the freedom fighter was hung to death by the Britishers.
Responding to a memorandum submitted today by the organizing committee of the function, the Chief Minister assured that the State Government will provide financial assistance in organizing State level Gang-ngai celebration besides extending monetary support in constructing brick-fencing along the worship place of Tingkao Ragwang at Chingmeirong Kabui Khul.
Wangkhei A/C MLA O Henry, TRCP/AMN president Meisonglung Pamei, NEROCA FC president Th Arunkumar Singh and All India Sradha Jagaran Pramukh member Ramesh Babuji also attended the inaugural function as chief host, president and guests of honour respectively.
Apart from releasing a souvenir of the silver jubilee of TRCP/AMN, conducting religious rites which included offering of holy wine and presentation of cultural items marked the main event of the function.
